Extend your wedding day into a multi-day celebration with our overnight accommodation
Your wedding day goes by in a flash. One moment you’re getting ready with your nearest and dearest, the next you’re waving everyone off and wondering where the time went. So why not make a proper occasion of it?
Staying overnight at The Pear Tree gives everyone the chance to wake up together, enjoy a leisurely breakfast, and carry the celebrations into the next day. And with the Cotswolds on your doorstep, there’s plenty of reason to linger. Whether your guests fancy a gentle walk through the Marlborough Downs, a mooch around a market town, or simply a long lunch somewhere lovely, the area has no shortage of ways to fill a slow, happy morning.
Here’s a little inspiration for turning your wedding weekend into something truly memorable.
Wake up at The Pear Tree
After a day as wonderful as your wedding, you deserve a proper rest. Moonglow, our honeymoon suite, is exactly that. A beautiful, peaceful retreat designed with the two of you in mind, where every detail has been thought through so you don’t have to think about anything at all. Just each other.
Your guests are well looked after too. With 17 bedrooms on site, the people who matter most don’t have to rush off into the night. They can kick off their shoes, sleep soundly, and wake up still very much in the spirit of things.
In the morning, everyone comes back together for breakfast. There’s something really special about that. The laughter from the night before carries into the next day, and suddenly your wedding isn’t just a day, it’s a whole wonderful weekend.

Once breakfast is done and the stories have been retold a few times over, the Wiltshire countryside is calling. And few things go hand in hand with the English countryside quite like a good pub lunch.
Right in the village, The Angel in Purton is a classic country pub with proper Arkell’s ale and a menu that does exactly what you want it to. A short drive away, The Bell Inn at Purton Stoke sits in a beautiful countryside setting with a 65-seat restaurant and the kind of welcome that makes you want to stay for another round.
It’s a lovely, unhurried way to spend an afternoon with family and friends, and a fitting end to a brilliant celebration.
Go for a walk
The countryside around The Pear Tree is genuinely beautiful, and the morning after a wedding is a fine time to appreciate it. Fresh air, good company, and views of the Marlborough Downs stretching out in front of you. There are well-worn footpaths and open landscapes in every direction, whether you’re after a gentle stroll or something a little more ambitious.
For something gentle and easy, the Purton loop from the village takes around an hour and a half and winds through lowland meadows and ancient hedgerows. If anyone’s feeling more adventurous, the Marlborough Downs Ridgeway Circular is a longer walk that takes in sweeping countryside views and the ancient hillfort at Barbury Castle. Worth every step, though do pack sturdy shoes.
For something a little different, head towards Marlborough and follow the river path east along the Kennet, passing old bridges, pretty villages, and the chance to spot herons, kingfishers and even the occasional water vole.
A family day out
If you’ve got little ones in tow, or simply want to make the most of the journey for guests travelling from further afield, the area around The Pear Tree has plenty to offer.
Just 20 minutes away, Avebury Stone Circle is one of those places that genuinely stops you in your tracks. The world’s largest prehistoric stone circle, you’re free to wander right among the standing stones, which feels quite different to the more regimented experience at Stonehenge. The village itself is lovely, and the whole site is managed by the National Trust and free to explore. Visit Wiltshire
For younger guests, Cotswold Farm Park is a brilliant day out with rare breed animals and plenty to keep little ones happy. And if it’s beauty and charm you’re after, Bourton-on-the-Water is one of the prettiest villages in the Cotswolds, with tea rooms, independent shops, and the River Windrush running right through the middle of it.
Further afield, Bath is under an hour away and never disappoints. From the Roman Baths to the Georgian streets, it’s a brilliant day out for all ages and a very easy sell to guests who’ve made the trip from London.
